In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to The Community Corps.

What we do is believe in people.

Our Mission

The Community Corps offers scholarships and grants to support under-served ideas and educational concepts in the spirit of The Horizons School that provide a future benefit to a community.

What does that mean?

Our background includes 40 years of success providing non-traditional education. The Community Corps now seeks to invest in the development of people and projects providing alternative solutions to needs in their community. Our projects will emphasize change, education, and related sustainability.

If that sounds vague, it’s intentional. We’re learning as we go along, but we know one thing: we don’t like strict rules.

Our resources (and therefore our awards) aren’t massive, but we believe we can generate real change through grants that support the right people and plans.

How do I apply?

If you think you have an idea for a project that will, sooner or later, serve your community in a sustainable way, we’d love to hear from you. The next round of projects will be funded in July or August of 2025, with applications due before June 30, 2025. Please visit our Application page to learn more.
